MFW I see the Veloster Turbo has a better Power:Weight ratio than the Miata

#11 is the Dodge Journey, 4283 lb and 283 hp, so 14.975 lb/hp. Only the heavy-ass AWD keeps it out of the top 10. Even though its MSRP is slightly above 25k, they probably sell for about 20k anyway. Truecar has them for 21k.

Even though it’s been around since 2008, Journey sales have been going up for the past 5 years!

There’s also the Grand Caravan, which is still being made on the old platform even though the Pacifica is already out, for 23k MSRP, 4510 lb, 283 hp, 15.937 lb/hp

The Jeep Cherokee is available with a 271-hp V6 on even the base FWD model. As a standalone option that doesn’t require any other option package. The base FWD Cherokee weighs 3655 lb, so that’s 13.487 lb/hp.

Meanwhile at Kia... Suspiciously absent from that list is the turbo Forte EX coupe with 201 hp on 2925 lb. giving us 14.55 lb/hp to also beat out the Miata for just $20,690. In fact it should be #7 on that list. It’s been out since 2014 - wonder why is was missing... I actually checked out the 5-door Forte SX last year when I was considering a GTI or FoST before I did the boring dad thing and buying a crossover.

#9 on the $50,000 list should be the Focus RS. 10.071
